Advent Conspiracy Details

The Advent Conspiracy is a grassroots movement with more than 1,000 churches in 17 countries participating as co-conspirators- with projects as varied as drilling a water well for those who lack access to clean water or simply encouraging congregations to think of meaningful acts of kindness as meaningful gift options to replace traditional gifts.

Last year, through Advent Conspiracy, $3 Million was raised for relief projects which included providing clean water and medical attention in communities around the world.

This year, Advent Conspiracy anticipates that individuals and churches will match last year’s commitment to charitable gifts and will make a lasting impact in communities around the world.

Sundial Community Garden

Title Slide for Garden Page

As a part of our ongoing goal to love our community and the world that God has placed us in well, Crossroads is starting the "Sundial Community Garden" in Spring of 2010 on our property in Waite Park. The goals of this garden will be to promote community both in the church and within the Sundial Area, to foster diversity in the community and in the garden, to offer a free opportunity for everyone to enjoy gardening, and to provide all those involved with clear expectations as to what to expect.

Our Mission as a community is to provide a free space for gardening and group connection that is available to anyone willing to participate and follow group-decided rules and regulations.

Preliminary Policies and Procedures for Sundial Community Garden:

The Sundial Community Garden will consist of:

  1. Open area planted, cared for, and harvested by contributing group members
  2. Plots of various sizes for families or individuals wanting their own space. Crops grown in such plots will need to meet group guidelines.
  3. Gathering place for people to sit and talk, and perhaps share a meal.
  4. Tool shed for the storage of needed equipment.
  5. Access to a watering source.
  6. Posted rules and guidelines as well as a place to communicate with participating gardeners.

The Sundial Community Garden Organization will provide:

  1. Seeds for the open garden area, with possible leftovers for members with plots.
  2. Gardening tools
  3. Water source and hoses
  4. Storage for tools

The Raining Season Prayer List

Specific Things To Be Praying For

-Staffing, pray for more people who love children and the LORD to come and work with us. pray for those who are coming to truly have a heart to care for these little ones and that they might quickly be equipped to do that well. Pray for our lead staff Gladys and Julia...they are AMAZING women who God has brought to us but they will be working very hard!!!!

-Funding--with 90 kids our budget is double what we planned. So, we need to have donors step in when we get home to sponsor these children so we can continue to care for them.

-Our Team--we are all tired and very emotional. each day is a roller coaster. I'll just say...Drama, Drama, Drama. For me it's exhausting to be working this hard and have to deal with that part too! So maybe pray for me first:) One of the girls found out that she lost her job yesterday, another is trying to process and adoption that most likely will not go through, and all of us have made connections with these children and are very anxious about their care.

-The Children--I am so looking forward to them walking into this new home and realizing that finally they are safe...they will not go to bed hungry or thirsty, they do not have to pee outside and poo in bowls that they will later eat from...no one will abuse them or humiliate them (Sam told us this morning that they put one bowl of rice in the middle of several children and make them fight for it!!!!!!!) I want them to be filled with hope!

-Sierra Leone--they have said that this will spark and investigation into all child care centers in this country. they are working very hard to make this a place where children are valued and cared for properly but the job is so big. the minister asked us to help street children, to help with food distribution and so much more. Pray that this man with a vision for his country, with the help of others, will be able to change it!
